Place a pot over heat then pour 0.4 oz of peanut oil. Once the oil is hot, put the popcorn kernels in. Place the lid of the pot and turn the heat to low. Occasionally shake the pot while cooking.
Remove the popcorn from heat then transfer it into a bowl. Set it aside.
In a small pot, pour 3.5 oz of water and 7 oz of sugar. Mix then let it boil until it reaches a light golden brown color. Turn off the heat once it reaches a rich golden color. Add the butter and stir until it melts. Add salt and baking soda. Stir until well combined.
Quickly pour on the popcorn while it’s still hot. Stir until all are fully coated with the caramel sauce. Just be sure to work fast while mixing them.
Transfer the caramel-coated popcorn to a pan lined with parchment paper then spread it out using your hands. Let it cool completely. Once cooled, separate them into pieces. Place in a bowl then serve. Enjoy it with friends or family during movie time or just for snacks.
