If you’re a chocolate and pecan person, this pie recipe by Paula Deen on YouTube would fit into your dessert list. If you have a sweet tooth, this is one of those pies that are filled with sugar. However, the roasted pecans balance them out, which is why I like adding extra to my pie. Not a lot of people talk about chocolate pecan pie, or pecan pie either. Most people talk about pumpkin pie or apple pie during the holidays. Also, I believe that this pie does not get enough credit, which is worth a try. This would taste good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream because it’s so rich.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (9 inches) unbaked pie shell
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 3 large beaten eggs
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons good-quality bourbon
  • 3 oz chopped semisweet chocolate

Directions:

First, preheat oven to 375F. Add the pecans to the bottom of the pie crust. Then, in a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted butter, corn syrup, sugar, bourbon, and the chopped chocolate. Stir until all of the ingredients are combined.

Overall, this is an easy pie recipe to make, and I love pecan pie. I’ve been wanting to make chocolate pecan pie because all you would do is add chocolate to an original pecan pie recipe. I think the bitterness of the chocolate would complement the sweetness really well. Personally, I would add dark chocolate because milk chocolate or semi-sweet might be too sweet for my preference.
