Rice pudding is simply sweet rice dessert. Paula Deen’s baked rice pudding recipe on YouTube is made in one bowl and it’s simple to make. Dump all of your ingredients, mix, bake and it’s ready to serve. I have never been a fan of rice pudding recipe because the consistency is odd to me. I’ve never seen rice pudding nice and golden like Paula’s so that’s why it looks better to me. Rice pudding reminds me of grits which I do not like either. This is like an old fashioned rice pudding recipe, but with a twist of being baked in the oven. I love how Paula put them in individual small serving cups because it looks more presentable instead of a large baking dish.
First, preheat oven to 325F. In a large bowl, stir together rice, milk, sugar, raisins, vanilla extract, and salt.
Next, spray your baking dish. You can use a large baking pan or small serving size dishes. Bake for 1 1/ 2 hours and combine nutmeg and cinnamon to sift over the top of the pudding.
Overall, I’ve had rice pudding once and I was not a fan. This baked rice pudding looks more appetizing and I would love to try it. I love how there’s a golden brown color on top. I would love to give this recipe a try and see if I would like rice pudding. Also, I think the reason why I don’t like rice pudding is that it reminds me of a rice porridge that my mom made for me, but it was a savory soup.
