Materials:

  • charm packs (5″ squares)
  • 1/2 yard sashing and border

Directions:

Step 1

Select twelve 5″ squares and cut them into 2 1/2″ squares. After this, take the remaining fifteen 5″ squares and trim them down to 4 1/2″ squares. Once done, select four 2 1/2″ squares in mixed prints to form a four-patch. Sew these together to complete a four-patch measuring 4 1/2″ square. Repeat these steps until you have a total of twelve four-patch blocks. Once you have all four patches, take four of them as well as five 4 1/2″ printed squares and lay them, alternating each piece, into a nine-patch block. Sew the block together to complete the nine-patch. Repeat these steps to make a total of three nine-patch blocks.

Step 2

Now, take your yardage and cut it down into six 3 1/2″ strips. With these, sew two strips on top and bottom of each nine-patch block. Once done, add the sashing in between each row with the remaining 3 1/2″ strips. Sew everything together to complete the table runner.
