I love how I can make this recipe in just under an hour. It’s perfect for those nights when you just want to make something simple but still impressive. It’s also a dish you can make that is hearty and comforting and will remind you of the classic onion soup.
Melt 3 tbsp butter in a large pan over medium-high heat, then add the thinly sliced onions. Season with 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper and stir. Add 1/4 cup water and cover the pan with its lid. Stir the onions every few minutes and cook until the onions are caramelized brown and soft. In the meantime, make the hamburger mixture.
Add 1 1/2 lbs of ground beef in a large mixing bowl, break it up, then add 2 packages of Lipton beefy onion mix. Mix them together well, then divide them into six equal portions. Place the patties in a heated griddle over medium heat. Press each patty to flatten them, then cook for four to five minutes until brown. Once flipped, top each patty with the caramelized onions and a slice of provolone cheese. Continue to cook for another four minutes. Now, assemble the burgers and serve. Enjoy!
