Notes: Make sure all ingredients except milk are at room temperature. Aerate the flour before measuring.
Add all dry ingredients to a mixing bowl. Mix to combine.
Add the milk, oil, and egg. Stir to combine, then beat on high speed for 3 minutes. Add additional flour until a dough forms.
Flour your surface, then transfer the dough. Knead the dough – 150 turns for about 4 to 5 minutes. Cover the dough with plastic or a bowl and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
Grease an 8-inch round pan. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small mixing bowl.
Roll the dough on a floured surface until it measures 12″ x 9″.
Spread butter on top, then sprinkle the brown sugar cinnamon mixture.
Roll the dough from the 9″ end. Make sure not to roll too tightly. Cut 1/2-inch off from both ends, then cut the log into 8 even slices using a serrated knife or dental floss. Arrange them in the prepared pan.
Cover the pan with plastic, then let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Place in a preheated oven at 350F for about 15 minutes. Once done baking, let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
Make the frosting. Mix powdered sugar and vanilla in a bowl, then slowly pour the milk until you have the preferred consistency. Frost the cooled cinnamon roll, let it set, then serve.
