I swear; this sesame chicken and rice from Spice N’ Pans on Youtube is the tastiest rice bowl dish I’ve tasted! If you’re having a busy week and don’t have time to prepare dinner for your family, this recipe is ideal for you. It’s not just tasty; it’s a one-pot recipe that you can make in less than 30 minutes. This dish is a crowd favorite in our home, so even if I don’t have a busy schedule, I still make this dish for my family. Try this today and see for yourself!

Ingredients:

  • 2 fl oz sesame oil
  • 1 thumb-size ginger, thinly sliced
  • 1 lb chicken thigh meat, cut into bite-size
  • 2 tbsp rice wine (optional)
  • 5 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups of uncooked rice, washed
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp chicken stock powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 can of button mushrooms
  • 2 stalks of spring onion, cut into finger length

Directions:

Step 1

Heat a pot over medium heat, then add 2 fl oz sesame oil and sliced ginger. Fry until fragrant, then add the chicken. Continue to cook over medium heat. Next, add 2 tbsp rice wine (optional), then sear the chicken on both sides until browned before stirring. Once the chicken starts to brown, add the thinly sliced garlic cloves and season with a few dashes of ground black pepper. Mix well.

Step 2

Now, add 3 cups of washed uncooked rice and stir well. After this, add 2 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tsp of chicken stock powder, and 1 1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce. Mix well to combine. Next, add 3 cups of water, and 1 can of thinly sliced button mushrooms. Turn down the heat to medium-low, put the lid on, and cook everything for fifteen minutes. After fifteen minutes, add two stalks of chopped spring onion. Turn off the heat and mix everything well before serving.
