Ingredients:

  • olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 14 oz canned tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 500 ml beef stock
  • canned red kidney beans
  • 1 red chili, sliced
  • coriander, for garnish

Directions:

Step 1

Heat some olive oil in a pan, then add the ground beef. Break the meat apart and cook until it turns brown. After it cooks – set it aside on a plate. Add more oil to the same pan, then saute the chopped onion. After the onion is softened, add two cloves of minced garlic. Continue to cook them until browned, then add the canned tomatoes and mix.

Step 2

Next, add 1 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp oregano, 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, and 1 tsp cinnamon powder. Cook for a few minutes, then add the beef stock. Mix well and simmer for a few minutes without cover. Once the sauce reduces a bit, add the ground beef back to the pan. Mix until well combined, then add the red kidney beans and 1 sliced red chili. Cover the pan and simmer for 20 minutes. Garnish with chopped coriander.
