Who doesn’t like an easy breakfast idea that can also be a great dinner table accompaniment, like these cheddar biscuits from Everyday Food? This recipe has been on a loop in our household since I discovered it on Youtube. It’s super easy and tastes fantastic; my family is absolutely in love! Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp coarse salt
  • a pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 6 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • 6 oz sharp white cheddar, shredded
  • 11/3 cups buttermilk, well-shaken
  • 3 tbsp chopped chives

Directions:

Step 1

In a bowl, add 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp of baking soda, 1 tbsp of granulated sugar, 1/2 tsp of kosher salt, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Whisk together to combine. Next, add 6 tbsp unsalted butter, then work the mixture quickly with your hands.

Step 2

Once the butter is combined, add the shredded cheese. Stir this together and add in 3 tbsp of chopped chives. After the cheese is evenly incorporated, add the buttermilk right into the center of the bowl (create a well in the center for the buttermilk). Bring the mixture together just until everything is incorporated. After this, scoop out the mixture into the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place them in a preheated oven at 425 degrees F for 12 minutes and rotate them halfway through the baking process until they’re nice and golden brown.
