If you are a beginner in quilting, this is the perfect project to hone your skills. It’s super easy to make and doesn’t require a lot of time. This is the old Italian quilt block by my sewing room on Youtube. You can use different fabric designs to create an eye-catching piece. If you don’t want different patterns in one block, you can use plain fabrics and just choose colors that go well with each other. Read on or watch the video below for the full instructions.

Cut the 6-inch square twice diagonally to have 4 triangles.
Take two of the strips and the 2-inch square. Arrange them into a long strip with the 2-inch square in the middle. Place them right sides together and secure the edges with pins. Sew them together with a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Once done, press them using an iron.
Take 2 of the triangles and 1 strip. Put the strip in between the two triangles. Place them right sides together and secure the edges with pins. Sew them together with a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Once done, do the same with the remaining 2 triangles and 1 strip. Press them using an iron.
Place the middle strip on a triangle unit right sides together and secure it with pins. Sew them together with a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Once done, finger press or use an iron to flatten the seams. Once done, do the same to the other side.
Trim the block into a 7-inch square using a rotary cutter and ruler. Make sure that the small square is in the center. That’s it. You can interchange the colors and use dark fabric for the strip instead of the strips.
