Ingredients:

  • 30-35 pieces of fresh strawberries, washed
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract or essence
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter
  • Butter, for greasing

Directions:

Step 1

Prepare and wash the strawberries thoroughly, then remove the crown of each piece, and roughly chop them. Transfer the roughly chopped strawberries to a large mixing bowl, then add ¾ cup of sugar, and mix them together until the sugar has melted and all of the strawberries are well coated. Cover the bowl and leave it in the refrigerator overnight.

Step 2

In a separate mixing bowl, pour or sift the all-purpose flour, then give it a good whisk to remove any lumps, add in the baking powder, and mix well until incorporated. Pour in the milk, vanilla extract or essence, and ½ cup of sugar, whisk them together until fully combined. Add in ¼ cup of melted butter and whisk them together until the texture becomes smooth and it achieves a ribboning effect.
