To make butter noodles, you only need 5 ingredients (water not included)–egg noodles, unsalted butter, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. It is one of the easiest dishes that you can prepare at home. All you need to do is cook the pasta in salted water, drain it, then mix in the butter, parmesan cheese, black pepper, and pasta water. That’s all you have to do, and it’s ready to serve.

Easy Butter Noodles Ingredients

  • 12 ounce egg noodles
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese
  • reserved pasta water
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • chopped fresh parsley (optional)

How to Make Butter Noodles

Step 1:

Fill a pot with water and let it come to a boil. Add 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of salt and your noodles. Cook based on package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water.

Step 2:

Add the drained cooked noodles to a bowl, then add the butter and 1/4 cup of the reserved pasta water. Stir it in until the butter melts. Remember the pasta water is salted so don’t add salt until you are done adding all the ingredients. The pasta water will make it creamy.
