1. Eliminate the cause of the odor

Stop smoking inside your house. When you smoke, there is the tar that comes from the cigarettes – it settles in your carpets, walls, draperies, blinds, and all the surfaces. For pet urine, it is best to invest in a pet or cat trainer to train your animal how to use the litter box. If your kids come in from sports and their clothes stink, wash them immediately. Leave their shoes outside so they can air out.

  • Neutralizers neutralize the odor – this may be baking soda, carbon, carbon plug-in, or charcoal. If you have closets that stink, you can take a sock, fill it with baking soda, and tie the end with a rubber band. Place it inside the drawer to neutralize the air.
  • Sanitizers kill bacteria in the air – there are sprays and HEPA filtration available.
  • Fresheners are what you put in the air to stop the bad smell –  these are little aerosol sprays, gels, or gel beads you usually use in the bathroom.
