Snoring is a very common problem and it’s caused by vibration of the soft tissues of the upper airway, the part of the airway that runs from the voice box at the back of the throat. That little section is held open only by muscle, there’s no bone and no cartilage, so when people fall asleep the muscle naturally goes slack and as a result, when you breathe in and out that tissue vibrates and produces snoring. Learn how to stop or lessen snoring through this video tutorial by Living Better on YouTube.
1.) Lose your weight
This is the most important thing that you should do because by losing weight, you are decreasing the excess fat in the throat area, and as a result, there’s less tissue to vibrate, which means, less snoring.

2.) Clear your sinuses
You can try and clear your sinuses, because when your sinuses are congested, you have to work that much harder to get air in and out through your nose, and as a result, the tissue vibrates more and makes your snoring louder.
3.) Sleep on your side
Snoring is also at times a positional phenomenon and tends to be worse when you sleep on your back, but less severe when you sleep on your side. The airway tends to vibrate less when you’re on your side or on your stomach rather than on your back.
4.) Nasal strips
These strips basically open up your nasal passageways, and as a result, improve airflow in and out through your nose. It also makes you work less hard to get air through that upper airway, which will eventually result in less vibration, and your snoring will go down.
5.) CPAP machine
Some people who have loud snoring problems often have sleep apnea, and treating sleep apnea effectively lessens snoring itself as well. CPAP machine stands for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure and is basically a machine with tubing to help you breathe better.
