Did you know mosquitoes are most active during the hot season and early fall? Yes, they love the warm weather. There are currently tons of insects roaming around our home, leaving us with a lot of bug bites and stings. It’s definitely alarming as they can carry diseases that I don’t want my family to get. I searched online for some alternatives to chemicals and found this mosquito repellent candles by Angie Holden on Youtube. It was so easy to do, smells refreshing, and also works as a decor! Materials

  • floating candles
  • lemon
  • lime
  • water
  • lemongrass essential oil
  • fresh basil leaves
  • two mason jars
  • spoon to mix the mixture

Instructions

Step 1:

Start by cutting the lemon and lime into round slices about 1/4 inch thick.

Step 2:

Get your mason jar. Add about two to three slices of lemon or lime into one mason jar, then fill the remaining space with fresh basil leaves.

Step 3:

Fill the mason jar with water just until the neck. Do not fill it all the way to the top.

Step 4:

Add a few drops of lemongrass essential oils into the jar. Mix the mixture well with a spoon.

Step 5:

Add the floating candle on top and light it up.

Step 6:

Repeat steps one to five with the other mason jar. Place the jars in areas where you often see mosquitoes around your house.
