Ingredients:

  • 1 lb spaghetti pasta
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian herb blend
  • 1 – 32 oz jar of Marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)
  • salt and ground black pepper, to taste
  • 14 – 16 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 – 15 oz container Alfredo sauce

Directions:

Step 1

Heat some olive oil in a preheated pan, then start sauteing the diced onions and bell pepper. Season with a pinch of salt. Next, add the lean ground beef, and season with 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp garlic powder, a pinch of salt, some ground black pepper, and 1 tsp Italian herb blend. Break the ground beef apart and cook it until browned. Once the meat is thoroughly cooked, add a 32 oz jar of Marinara sauce. Mix well, taste test at this point, and adjust the seasonings according to your preference. Let it simmer for 15 minutes, then set it aside. Now, cook your pasta according to its packaging directions.

Step 2

Moving on with the cream sauce, drain the pasta first (save at least a cup of pasta water), then add a 15 oz container of Alfredo sauce, and 16 oz shredded mozzarella cheese. Add some of the pasta water, then mix together until combined. Now, assemble the casserole. Add a little bit of the marinara sauce to the bottom of the casserole and spread it evenly. Next, add the pasta, and a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese, then pour over the rest of the marinara sauce. Finish it by sprinkling some shredded cheese of your choice. Place the casserole dish in a preheated oven at 400 degrees F and bake it uncovered for 20 minutes. Once done, garnish with some dried parsley, then serve.
