The fall season is the perfect time to whip out those soup recipes, like this French onion soup from Martha Stewart on YouTube. I swear, this got to be the tastiest onion soup I’ve tried in my life. It’s flavorful and the ingredients are actually pretty simple. Every bite will surely bring comfort to you and your family. So, if you’re looking for a soup recipe for tonight, I strongly recommend this one. Watch the video below to learn the step by step instructions.
Slice the yellow onions thinly. After this, melt 4 tbsp butter in a large heavy pot, then add the sliced onions. As soon as they start to produce moisture, add 1 tsp of sugar and drizzle 1 tbsp all-purpose flour. Keep stirring until the onions are caramelized and the color turns nutty brown, then add 1 tbsp all-purpose flour. Mix well, cooking the flour completely.

Next, add 1/2 cup dry sherry, deglaze the pot, then add 3 1/2 cups homemade beef stock. Then, season with 2 tsp of thyme and a large pinch of salt. Bring it to a boil and reduce the heat to a simmer. Let it simmer for 30 minutes. Once done, ladle the soup into serving bowls, then add 2 pieces of sliced baguette on top and shredded medium-hard cheese. Place the soup bowls on a baking sheet, then place it in the broiler until cheese is melted and crusty. Serve and enjoy!
