Start by cutting all the layer cake pieces in half.
Cut a 5″ strip of fusible and place the white squares on the rough side. Iron and press them. Let it cool down, then trace a 4 1/2″ diameter circle on each square on the paper side. Cut out each of the circles. Get one and fold it in half with the fabric sides together. Place a ruler on the crease and cut it in half.
Get two pieces of colored strips in different colors, and fold them in half to make a crease. Take one of the half circles, and remove the paper. Get the shiny side and put it down towards the center half of one colored strip. Take the other semi-circle and do the same to the other colored strip. Press them down.
Put the black strip in the middle of the two colored strips and sew them together with a quarter of an inch seam allowance. Next, trim it to a 10-inch square. Do this for half of the blocks that you will create. For the other half, flip the semicircle to the other side to make a different pattern. See the photo below for reference. Sew the blocks into rows first. Once done, sew the rows together.
