Star-themed quilts are just gorgeous, aren’t they – like this lemon star quilt from Missouri Star on Youtube. This quilt project may look complicated, but I’m telling you, it’s actually pretty easy to make and perfect for beginners. It’s one of my favorite patterns when I’m just starting in quilting, and I couldn’t count the projects I made with this exact pattern, just in different colors. You will certainly find this project fun to make, I swear. Try making this today and see for yourself. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step by step instructions.
From your packs, get two of each color, and two white fabrics as well. Sew one fabric square on each color, then the remaining contrasting colored squares will be sewn together on the right sides. Sew them all around the edges with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Next, cut the sewn pieces diagonally in both directions, trim them to 3″ size, then press open. Once you have them all pressed, you should now have three sets.

Now, assemble your first block and lay it right on your working surface so you have it to look at. (Refer to the image below for placements to make the block.) After this, chain-piece these together, then clip them apart in pairs. Press them open afterward. Repeat these steps to make three more blocks. Once you have all your blocks, assemble the lemon star with the pointy parts facing outside. Sew them together like a four-patch. Complete the quilt top by sewing the blocks together in a 5 x 4 pattern. (You’ll need 36 stars exactly.)
