Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned quilter, you’ll surely have fun making this quilt. It’s easy enough for beginners, and seasoned quilters may finish this in less than a day. This is one of my go-to patterns, especially if I need something quick and pretty to gift to a friend or family. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step by step instructions.

Materials:

  • 1 layer cake or twenty-eight 10″ print squares
  • 1 1/2 yards background
  • 5/8 yard binding
  • 3 3/4 yards backing
  • (click here for the free pattern)

Directions:

Step 1

Cut eight 10″ squares (fabric A) and cut twenty 10″ print squares into twenty 8 1/2″ squares (fabric B). Next, cut background fabric into eight 10″ squares (fabric C), six 4 1/2″ x WOF strips (fabric D), then cut the binding fabric into seven 2 1/2″ x WOF strips (fabric E). After this, make the half-square triangles. Grab one fabric A and C, put them right sides together, and draw a diagonal line. Draw outer lines on each side of the first line, then sew directly on those outer lines. After sewing, cut it in the center, then press open. Once done, trim off the half-square triangle to 8 1/2″. Make four of these for each block.

Step 2

Now, assemble the block. (Take a look at the free pattern for the placements or see the picture below.) Sew these by rows, then sew those rows together to finish the block. Make enough of this to finish off the quilt top.
