I love fun, easy, and unique quilt projects, like this Irish change quilt from Missouri Star on YouTube! I swear, this quilt is one of the easiest quilts you’ll ever do. This quilt project is made of whole 10” layer cakes and strip sets. It’s not only easy to do, but it’s also fun! Beginner or not, you’ll surely find this quilt one of the best patterns out there. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step by step instructions. Thanks to Missouri Star for this fantastic quilt tutorial. Materials:

  • 1 print layer cake
  • 1 1/2 yards of accent fabric
  • 3 1/4 yards of background fabric (includes inner border)
  • 1 3/4 yards of outer border fabric
  • 9 1/4 yards of backing fabric (vertical seams) OR 3 1/4 yards of 108″ wide backing fabric
  • 1 yard of binding fabric

Directions:

Step 1

You’re going to make three strip sets. The center is going to be a 4″ center red strip with 2″ white strips on either long side. Once done sewing, cut a 4″ block for the center. For the next set, it’s going to be a 4″ white in the center and two red 2 1/2″ strips on either short side. Once done sewing, cut 2″ pieces from this strip set (you’ll need two of these for each block). For the last set, it’s going to be a 7″ white strip sewn with two 2″ red squares on either side.

Step 2

Now, assemble the block. Take the center, then put the 2″ pieces on either side. Sew these together and press. Next, sew two 7″ white strips on either side of the finished block, then two 7″ white strips with two 2″ red squares on top and bottom. Now, once you put this in between your printed layer cakes on your quilt top, it’s going to chain throughout the whole quilt.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
