This dish is incredibly easy to make and perfect on busy days. It’s one of my go-to instant pot recipes, as it’s flavorful, filling, and not time consuming to prepare.

To make it at home, all you need are northern beans, onion, bell pepper, garlic, salt, cumin, pepper, water, and ham hock. You don’t need to pre-soak the beans. Just place the washed and rinsed beans in your instant pot, along with the other ingredients and let the instant pot do it’s magic. How easy is that? Serve it with freshly made cornbread for a complete meal.

Easy Instant Pot White Beans Ingredients

  • 2 cups of dry great northern beans
  • 1 large white onion (chopped)
  • 1 bell peppers (diced)
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1 quart and 1 cup of water
  • 2 ham hocks

 

Note: If you don’t have ham hock, you can use bacon, ham, or smoked turkey leg

How to Make Instant Pot White Beans

Step 1:

Wash and rinse your beans well. Add in your instant pot.

Step 2:

Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, followed by 1 tablespoon of minced garlic.

Step 3:

Season it with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of pepper, and 1 teaspoon of cumin.

Step 4:

Add 1 quart and a cup of water into the instant pot, followed by 2 ham hocks.

Step 5:

Place the lid and pressure cook on high for 40 minutes. If you’re going to use your stovetop, cook it for about 2 to 4 hours.

Step 6:

After 40 minutes, natural release your instant pot. Once done, serve and enjoy with cornbread.
