Learn how to upcycle an alarm clock into an adorable planter through this DIY tutorial by Windy City Crafts Videos on YouTube! You can buy a cute alarm clock in the nearest thrift store or you can use your old clock if you have one that’s already available. With only a few easy and simple steps you can make this pretty little planter and display it indoors.
Step 1
Start by taking off all the pieces of the alarm clock apart, then wipe each piece with some rubbing alcohol. Remove the glossy paint of the clock by sanding all painted parts of the clock. Then, cover them with a layer of chalk paint, and let them dry completely. Print out a clock image making sure that its size would fit the alarm clock. Cut it out, then place it on top of a small foam board or similar, and glue it in using mod podge.

Step 2
Cut out the foam according to the shape of the clock image, then cut it straight in half, and cover the lower half with mod podge. Assemble the clock back together, then roughly apply some mixture of orange and brown acrylic paint using a sponge to create the vintage and rustic look. Attach the lower half of the clock image inside the alarm clock itself using hot glue. Trace the hole at the back of the clock to the foam board, then cut it out, and glue it to the clock. Insert some faux plant in the clock.
