How To Take In The Waist Of Your Jeans Easily

This video tutorial by Alegria Jimenez will teach you how to alter your jeans that are too loose so that you don’t have to buy another pair or pay someone to fix them for you! Plus, you don’t need to be an expert in sewing or have any special tool to do this hack. All you need is some elastic, a few safety pins, and of course, this easy-to-follow video tutorial. Materials:
- 1-inch roll of elastic
- Safety pins
- Buttons
- Needle and matching thread
- Scissors
- Jeans
Directions:
Step 1
Grab a strip of elastic and wrap it around your waist area to measure out how much elastic it would take, then subtract a couple of inches, and snip off the excess elastic from that point. Turn your jeans right side in, then snip 2 holes on each side of the waistband about 2 inches from the button area. The hole should be wide enough that your fingers could fit in.

Step 2
Attach a safety pin on one side of the piece of elastic you measured earlier, then insert it through the snipped hole on the waistband until it comes out on the other snipped hole, and then cut off the excess. You can use safety pins to lock the elastic in the waistband or you can sew a button on each side, cut a hole on the ends of the elastic, then insert it into the buttons. That way, you can still adjust the tightness of the elastic if needed.
