Headlights can get dirty easily and yellow, but this tutorial by ChrisFix on YouTube shows how to restore headlights by using toothpaste and toothbrush. It’s interesting because I’ve always wondered how to clean them since one of my mom’s headlights is yellow. I didn’t think it would be this easy to clean headlights without buying special or expensive products. I’m sure there are many people in the same boat, and if the outside of the headlight is not smooth then you’re able to polish it out. This is an impressive tip that I will use for the rest of my life if I come across yellow headlights.

Supplies:

  • toothbrush (optional)
  • toothpaste
  • paper towel
  • spray bottle with warm water
  • car wax (optional)

Directions:

First, use a toothpaste that has some grittiness to it that is toothpaste and not gel. If the toothpaste is not gritty, you can add baking soda to it. Apply the toothpaste onto the headlight, and rub it in. Also, you can use a toothbrush for extra help to swirl around the toothpaste.

Note: you might have to do two applications of toothpaste depending on how yellow and dirty your headlights are. This doesn’t take much effort, and you can get great results. Now, I don’t have to take it to the shop to get it detailed when I can try to clean it in my driveway. This is a great tip to keep in mind and pass onto your family and friends. I would use the car wax to apply onto the headlights to help prevent them from getting yellow fast.
