Even if you’re a beginner or it’s your first time sewing, you’ll surely learn this trick fast because it’s so easy and simple to do! You might even be surprised by the final result because I’m sure you can definitely do this perfectly on the first try, you don’t even need to worry about messing up or doing it wrong, it’s that easy. Simply follow the instructions and steps as written below and shown in this video tutorial by Trefa Craft on YouTube.

Materials:

  • Jeans
  • Fabric, any pattern and color you want
  • Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
  • Tape measure
  • Seam ripper
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
  • Basting tape
  • Needle and thread
  • Iron, for pressing
  • Sewing machine

Directions:

Step 1

Cut off the cuff of the jeans, then reap the inner side seam about 6 inches high, and do the same for the other leg. Open and lay them flat on your work surface, then mark 4cm or approximately 1.5 inches high from the edge of the denim, then draw a straight line horizontally, and repeat the same steps on the other leg.

Step 2

Next, draw random-sized curves all over the bottom of the lined area as shown in the video, then cut the curves precisely with a scissor, and lay a piece of fabric underneath that is about 3 to 4 inches high and the same length as the width of the pant legs (you can use any pattern or color that you want as long as it compliments your pants).

Step 3

Attach the fabric to the denim using basting tape and add small extra pieces underneath the large curves, then press them nicely to fuse them, and start topstitching all around the edges. Now, stitch back the side seams together, then sew the bottom hem of the jeans, and trim off any frayed thread or excess fabric.
