Materials:

  • Warm water
  • Dish soap
  • Paper plate or normal plate
  • Hot boiling water
  • Candle or coffee warmer
  • Oven mitt or towel
  • Butter knife

Directions:

Method #1: Hot Boiling Water

Place your candle jar on top of a paper plate or normal plate to catch any spillage, then pour hot boiling water on the jar, and fill it up about half an inch away from the rim. Let the hot water melt the wax and pull it up the top of the water, then let it cool for about 2 or 3 hours or up to overnight, and simply remove the solid wax with your fingers. Then, wash the jar with soap and warm water.

Method #2: Use a Candle or Coffee Warmer

You can find a candle or coffee warmer from any craft store or from Walmart, after 2 or 3 hours of letting it heat up, you’ll see the candle wax is all melted, now if it’s not too hot you can use your fingers to pick it up, but if it is then you can use an oven mitt or towel. Next, get a paper plate and put a paper towel on top then pour the melted wax onto it, clean the jar with soap and warm water.

Method #3: Freezing the Candle Jar

Place your candle jar in the freezer and leave it for about 2 or 3 hours, then once the jar is completely frozen, remove the jar and place it on top of a paper plate or a regular plate, then get a butter knife and start chipping away the wax, you don’t have to worry as it’ll break up pretty easily and quickly, once you’re done, just pour out the chipped wax on top of the paper plate and wash out the jar with soap and warm water.
