If you are new to baking and wondering why your liners always stick to your cupcakes, these tips by Handle the Heat are for you. You surely don’t want to ruin your cupcakes after baking and decorating them, so make sure you read all of these pieces of advice on how to prevent cupcake liners from sticking. But what if they are already stuck? Don’t worry – there’s a bonus tip below.
Always make sure you use quality liners. Do not skimp or pick up clearance bin items! Invest in high-quality professional-level cupcake liners. Oftentimes, those that look cute in the store are usually the ones that stick to your cupcakes and ruin every bite.
Be sure to use heavy and sturdy baking tins for your cupcakes. This ensures that the cupcakes are baked really nicely and evenly.
Spray the cupcake tin with the liners already inside with non-stick baking spray. This will help the liners peel away nicely from your cupcakes after they are done baking.
Add a tray of water to the bottom rack of your oven while your cupcakes are baking. This added moisture will help prevent the liners from sticking. However, after the cupcakes are done baking, you really want to avoid any excess moisture.
Make sure you only let them cool inside the cupcake tin for just a few minutes right after baking, then remove and place them in a cooling rack to cool completely. The residual heat of the oven and the pan can cause too much moisture and make those cupcake liners stick to your cupcakes. Remember to cool them completely before you ever attempt to peel the liner.
If your cupcake liners are already stuck, place a few in the microwave at one time upside down with a wet paper towel covering the base of the cupcake. Microwave it for about 15 seconds.
