Most of us might have already encountered a stuck jar lid that’s really difficult to open, especially if you lack the strength to do it. When we don’t have somebody else to call and open it up for us, we have to improvise and use tools that might already be around the kitchen. Here are 7 easy and simple ways to try and open a stuck jar lid as taught by Manly Moments on YouTube.
Step 1
#1: Use a plastic wrap
Plastic wrap gives you a bit more traction because of the way it clings to just about everything. Simply wrap it around the lid and try to open the jar. However, this method is not for everyone as this can be a bit frustrating and messy.

#2: Use rubber gloves
Rubber gloves are another excellent way to get a really good grip. Simply wear a rubber glove the next time you try to open a jar.
#3: Use a wooden spoon
This method is done by simply tapping the top of the lid with a wooden spoon, sometimes you’re able to actually loosen the seal and that’s what makes it easier to open.
#4: Use a metal spoon
The objective here is to pry the lid away from the jar just enough to break the seal. This is also the most preferred and effective method according to those who’ve actually tried it.
#5: Run lid under hot water
The metal expands when heated, so by running the lid under a little hot water, the lid should loosen up on its own, and it will be much easier to open.
#6: Use a lighter
It’s the same concept as the hot water method, however, is for those with a broken hot water heater or for those who don’t have it. All you need is to light it up for a few seconds and then open it.
#7: Use a rubber band
Rubber band gives you extra gripping strength and it’s almost always foolproof. Simply wrap a rubber band around the lid, then try and open it.
Bonus:
Take your jar, turn it upside down, and then on the base of the jar, hit it really hard with the palm of your hand. That’ll loosen the seal and allow you to twist the lid off easily.
