You never bother thinking about your windshield wiper blades until it starts raining, at least I don’t because it is a hassle going to the auto parts store to buy new ones and have them put on and good ones can be expensive. Those are the very reasons I decided to try this new idea I found on Youtube that only requires a can of WD 40 and an old sock or washcloth. The thing is your rubber wiper blades get brittle and covered in dirt, road grit, and grease and that is usually what causes them to streak and wipe the water off in a very patchy way, so by running a good wipe of WD 40 over them you not only degrease the blades but also restore the suppleness of the blade itself. So do not wait for that moment when you are caught in a torrential downpour and cannot see one foot in front of your vehicle. Wipe down those crusty old blades with some WD 40, it only takes a few minutes to do this and it can make your field of vision while driving greatly improved.

Materials:

  • WD 40
  • An old sock (or a washcloth, you want something with a nap)

Directions:

First, get your materials together, which are just a can of WD 40 and a sock.

Restore your wiper blades with WD 40

Then you just stand your blades to an upright position and wipe them, it is really that simple!

Use WD 40 to restore windshield wiper blades

This is a great idea and I can’t wait to try it.
