I happen to stumble upon this video tutorial by Southern Country Living on YouTube, and I immediately knew that I have to try it at home! It looks similar to what our Grandma used to make us when we were kids, and I got curious if I could make it successful or if it would even taste similar to my Grandma’s recipe. I did try making it and my, it was so yummy, that’s why I’m sharing this recipe with you all too!
Step 1
Roughly chop 32 pieces of circus peanut candies into smaller pieces, then place them in a microwave-safe bowl, and add about ¼ cup of hot water. Put it in the microwave for about one minute, then give it a good stir until melted and smooth. You can put it back in the microwave and melt it more if needed. Place a small saucepan on a stove, then add ¾ cup of water, and bring it to a boil. Dissolve one six-ounce packet of orange-flavored gelatin in the boiling water, then pour it into the melted candy mixture.

Step 2
Stir them together until nice and smooth, then add the crushed pineapple, and mix them together until well combined. Put it in the refrigerator and leave it for about 15 to 30 minutes or until it has partially set. Take it out of the refrigerator, then fold in the whipped topping gently until incorporated and uniform. Grease or spray a 9*13 baking dish, then pour in the candy and jello mixture and spread it evenly. Put it back into the refrigerator for about 4½ hours or until it sets completely. Cut it into squares, then put the remaining circus peanut candies on top, serve and enjoy!
