This classic southern recipe just goes perfectly well with everything and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of eating this! I always make sure to make this often and pair it with fish, chicken, or anything I have really. I learned how to cook these delicious grits through this video tutorial by The Danni Rose on YouTube.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup quick grits
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon Knorr seasoning or chicken bouillon
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • Any kinds of cheese

Directions:

Step 1

Place a medium-sized saucepan on a stove over medium-high heat, then pour about 4 cups of water, and bring it to a boil. Add the chicken bouillon or seasoning, then stir it around using a whisk, and then gradually pour the quick grits while consistently stirring. Cover the saucepan, then reduce the heat to a low setting, and let it cook for about 20-30 minutes. Make sure to whisk in between the cooking time to avoid the bottom from being brunt and to check whether it’s ready.

Step 2

After cooking the grits, give a good stir using your whisk, then pour the heavy cream, and whisk it in until well combined. Add block or grated cheese, you can put whatever cheese and as much as you like. Add in a tablespoon of butter, then season it with salt and pepper, and mix them together until the butter has melted. Then, add the remaining tablespoon of butter, and whisk it around until melted and incorporated. Taste and adjust the seasonings, cheese, or butter, then serve and enjoy!
