This homemade gelato is the perfect treat for this summer. It is easy to prepare and only requires a few ingredients. You only need whole milk, sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, corn syrup, and fine salt. All you have to do is mix all the ingredients and let the ice cream machine do its magic. I bet you will make this recipe again and again once you try it.

Chocolate Gelato Ingredients

  • 3 cups of whole milk
  • 2/3 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup of cocoa powder (sifted)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons of corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon of fine salt

How to Make Chocolate Gelato

Step 1:

In a large mixing bowl, sift 2/3 cup of cocoa powder, 2/3 cup of granulated sugar, 1 1/2 tablespoons of cornstarch, and 1/2 teaspoon of fine salt.

Step 2:

Add 3 cups of whole milk and 2 tablespoons of corn syrup. Whisk until well combined.

Step 3:

Pour the gelato mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer’s instructions. It can take 15 to 30 minutes depending on your machine.

Step 4:

Transfer the gelato mixture to an air-tight container (it will be soft) and spread it evenly. Cover the surface of the gelato with a plastic wrap. Make sure it is pressed to the surface. Cover with the lid. Place the gelato in the freezer. Freeze until firm. You can keep it up for a week.

Serve in a cone or a cup. Enjoy!
