There is a ridiculous amount of tutorials on YouTube that has Mountain Dew involved.  Zach Bauer Holy Smokes BBQ  tutorial shows how to make Mountain Dew ribs with a homemade glaze. I haven’t made ribs in a while, but I do prefer wet style ribs instead of dry rub. This recipe is so simple, it just takes a process to cook the ribs, but it’s important to use the homemade Mountain Dew glaze while the ribs are smoking. This helps keep the ribs mountain and keeps the flavor intact.

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups reduced Mountain Dew
  • 1-2 cups of corn Syrup
  • 1 Tsp of Lime Juice
  • 1 Tsp of Lemon Pepper Seasoning
  • 1 Tab Butter
  • 1 drop of food coloring

Directions:

First, season your ribs with lemon pepper seasoning and smoke them for 2 hours. After 2 hours, foil them with butter and Mountain Dew glaze to get the citrus flavor. To make the Mountain Dew rib glaze, add a couple of cups of the soda into a pot and reduce it down to a syrup. Throw a couple of pads of butter until it’s reduced. Add a couple of squirts of lemon or lime juice, corn syrup, lemon pepper seasoning, and green food coloring.

Next, continue to glaze the ribs with the homemade Mountain Dew glaze throughout the cooking process so the flavor is infused into the meat.

Overall, these Mountain Dew smoked ribs look super tender and moist. I don’t like Mountain Dew, but I would love to try this recipe. I can imagine the flavor on the ribs with a nice sweet yet citrusy taste.  There would be a lot of flavor coming from the soda and lemon pepper seasoning. I think this is super unique and if you’re looking for an unusual way to cook ribs, try this out.
