There are so many cakes that have unique and unusual names such as this earthquake cake. The cake bubbles create these eruptions and crater-like shapes, hence the name earthquake. Collard Valley Cooks tutorial on YouTube shows how easy it is to make an earthquake cake. Some people call it an upside-down German chocolate cake. This cake is layered with coconut flakes, pecans, German chocolate cake mix, and cream cheese. If you like all of those ingredients, this would be a great sweet treat to bake that is simple. Cake box mixes are so useful and come in handy if you want to have a quick sweet dessert.
First, preheat the oven to 350F. Follow the directions on the box for your cake mix. Continue to watch Collard Valley Cooks tutorial on YouTube for full instructions on preparing the cake.
Next, once all of the mixes are ready, start assembling. Make sure to grease the pan well, because it is an ooey-gooey cake. Then, lay down a layer of coconut flakes on the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle chopped pecans on top of the coconut flakes. Pour the cake batter and scoop the cream cheese mixture on the cake. Swirl around the cream cheese to infuse with the cake batter. Bake for an hour.
Overall, this cake has a lot going on, and it would be a bit overwhelming for me. However, there are many people who like all of the ingredients in this cake, and I think it would be a fun cake to bake.
