I worry about my fur baby’s health because certain dog breeds can be prone to osteoporosis. I went searching on the internet for a homecooked idea that could help my Jack Russell Terrier maintain her strong and dynamic health. Finding this recipe really gave me peace of mind and I couldn’t wait to get started on this bone broth recipe. When I started roasting the bones with the carrots and celery, my fur baby started going crazy, I knew immediately I had made the right decision.

Ingredients:

• 3 tablespoons olive oil
• 2 pounds beef marrow bones
• 4 raw pigs feet (not smoked)
• 8 celery stalks
• 4 carrots (2 cups baby carrots)
• 1 cup roughly chopped parsley
• 1/4 cup raw apple cider vinegar (some recipes suggest lemon juice but that is not good for dogs)
• Water
• A large roasting pan
• An Instant Pot (crockpot or stockpot)

Directions:

First, you will roast the marrow boned and pig trotters in a roasting pan with carrots and celery. Then you will remove them and place them in an Instant Pot or crockpot and cook slowly. The addition of vinegar is very important because it will help render the nutrients from the bones.

The end result will be a bone broth jelly that you can feed your dog twice a day.
