Homemade reusable grocery bags have a distinctly European look and they are not hard to make at all. I recently found this reusable fabric grocery bag video tutorial by Ezi2make Channel, on YouTube, and I fell in love with the design. This reusable tote bag is made with a medium weight quilting cotton and overclocked to prevent fraying, but you can certainly use a zig-zag stitch, that will work fine.

Materials For Reusable Fabric Grocery Bag:

  • A yard of fabric
  • A serger machine (optional)
  • A sewing machine
  • A pair of scissors
  • Tailor’s chalk (or fabric marker)
  • Thread

Then, you will use a serger machine to finish off all the edges, or you can use a zig-zag stitch if you do not have a serger. You will then sew the tote right sides together, then turn it right sides out. You can topstitch the edges, but the bag looks really cute if you leave the serged edges exposed.
