Hooded towels are perfect for the pool, the beach, or just bathing at home and I had always wanted to make one. I really got serious about finally making one when I saw a cute family at our neighborhood pool and they all had matching hooded towels with their names embroidered on them. So I went searching Youtube for the perfect hooded towel tutorial and I struck gold, I found the easiest most straightforward hooded towel tutorial and it could be easily done and did not require a pattern at all! I went to Target and got some towels immediately because I was so excited and thrilled to start this awesome hooded towel adventure.

Materials:

  • A regular size bath towel
  • A hand towel
  • A sewing Machine
  • Scissors
  • A Rotary Cutter
  • A Cutting Mat
  • A small plate
  • Thread

Directions:

Cut your hand towel 12 1/2 inches wide and 20 inches tall, then use a plate to measure a sei circle where the back of the head will go, cut into a rounded shape. If you wish for the hood to have a little point, skip this step, this will be the case for many animal themed towel ideas.

Then sew the hood right sides together then do a dense zig zag stitch over the edges to prevent fraying (if you have a serger then use that by all means)

Then find the middle of your lager towel and middle of your hood then sew the two right sides together.
