Terracotta clay pots and saucers are one the least expensive items in my local garden center and they are also one of the most useful items. I just saw this wonderful video tutorial by DIY Stories on Youtube, that showed how to make an attractive birdbath out of terracotta saucers. After years in an apartment, we just moved into a new house that has a big yard, so this idea was really going to come in handy to turn our new backyard into an outdoor oasis. The look of this birdbath is distinctly Italian and will fit in perfectly with my eclectic boho decor. All the materials are super simple, and I was able to find them at the local Home Depot garden center.

Materials:

  • 18-inch clay saucer
  • 14-inch clay saucer
  • 10-inch clay saucer
  • 6-inch flower pots
  • A water pump
  • Some water hose pipe
  • Silicone caulk (for sealing the hoses in the holes)

Directions:

In this excellent video tutorial by DIY Stories on YouTube, you will be shown exactly how to make this birdbath in a few easy steps. You will start by drilling holes in your clay saucers to install the water hose.

Then, you will install the small pump and the fountain top. To make the pipe secure, you will surround it with silicone caulk.

This terracotta saucer birdbath idea is so gorgeous, everyone that comes over to our new house goes absolutely crazy over it and demands to know where I got it from. I try to tell them that I made it and they don’t believe me! I always end up showing them the video and then they insist that I make one for them too!
