Do you love wearing black clothes? I surely do! I rarely wear other colors, which is why I have a lot of black clothing in my closet. The best thing about wearing black is that it always looks chic and you don’t need to worry about matching your outfit. It never goes out of style, so you can wear it for years. However, the only problem with black clothes is that they tend to fade quickly if they are not taken care of properly. If you don’t know the right way to wash and care for them, the color won’t last long. Fortunately, Rachel Aust has created a video tutorial to teach you how to keep your black clothes from fading.

This technique won’t teach you how to use dye for your clothes. However, this tutorial will guide you on how to keep your black clothes black by proper washing and drying. The way you wash and dry black clothes has a big impact on how long the color lasts. Before considering dyeing your clothes, you should try this method first and see if it works for you.
Separate the lights from the darks. For any denim item, turn them inside out. Friction will cause denim to lose its color very quickly.
When you are doing the wash, add half a cup of white vinegar to the wash. Do not worry as your clothes will not smell like vinegar. Make sure you are not overloading the machine.
Keep the water at a really low temperature and make sure that it is a fast wash. Make sure to check the manual on your washing machine if the temperature is Celsius or Fahrenheit. The fast wash will make sure that the clothing isn’t being worn down too much in the machine.
Do not put them into a drying machine. If you live in an apartment, it would be better to invest in a clothing rack. If you are in a warm environment, dry them outside in the clothing rack and keep them away from direct sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can make your black clothing fade incredibly fast.
