Why do glasses fog up in the first place? Glasses will fog due to temperature changes and humidity. If your glasses are cooler than the humid air that is hitting them, fogging will result. When you are wearing a mask, you are exhaling warm moist air, and it cannot flow through the barrier mask, so it goes straight up along the sides of your nose to your glasses. We all know how uncomfortable a mask can be, especially if you wear glasses, so this amazing Youtuber, Robert Beriault came up with a simple method of keeping your glasses fog-free while you are wearing a mask. Robert was a researcher in biotechnology and would work for hours at a time working with specimens under a microscope, and he had to wear a mask to prevent his specimens from getting contaminated. As his glasses would fog during his workday, he became increasingly frustrated with this problem and devised this very easy method to keep his glasses fog-free.

Materials:

  • A piece of tissue (for wiping your face to clear any oil or dirt)
  • A roll of masking tape (4 to 5-inch strip)

Directions:

First, you lay your mask out and place a 4 to 5-inch piece of masking tape on the top of the mask, (the part with the metal).

Put tape on a mask to stop glasses from fogging

Then, you will have to make sure you clear the upper portion of your face from oil and debris, by wiping with a kleenex tissue.

Wear a mask and keep glasses from fogging

This is a great idea Robert came up with and I will certainly be using it, as long as we have to wear these cumbersome masks.
