Cracked heels can occur from bad shoes or from not wearing shoes. It’s common to have dry and dead skin cells on your heels, but Virality on YouTube demonstrates how to get rid of cracked heels at home. Apparently, the skin on the feet tends to become dry because there are no oil glands present there so it causes the skin to crack. It’s important to moisture and keeps your feet warm. I’ve noticed my heels are cracked more during the summer because I never wear shoes and step on concrete. Also, you can repeat this method every 2 weeks or when you start to see your heels cracking. However, I would recommend keeping a pumice stone in the shower to scrub every day.

Materials:

  • 2 tsp salt
  • bucket of warm water
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • half of a lemon (squeeze the juice)
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Johnson baby shampoo
  • pumice stone
  • towel
  • any bath soap
  • Vaseline or petroleum jelly

Directions:

First, in a bucket of warm water, add salt, baking soda, lemon juice, olive oil, and baby shampoo then mix together.

Next, soak your heels in the water mixture for about 20 minutes before moving onto the next step. Use a pumice stone to scrub off any dead or rough skin on the heels. The water mixture should soften the skin which will be easier to scrub off. Continue to watch Virality tutorial on YouTube for full instructions and details.

Overall, this is an interesting combination of products, but all of them are reasonable and make sense. I know so many people who have badly cracked heels, so I want to try this home remedy at home and see the results for myself. My heels aren’t that bad because I scrub my feet with a pumice every time for my shower routine.
