A dust-proof home is not only aesthetically pleasing but is also ideal for you and your family’s health. Living in a home that is free of dust and dirt can improve the quality of air more than you think, plus, it helps you with your chores because it will lessen the time that you have to spend cleaning. Learn the easy tips and tricks to keeping your home dust-free with this video tutorial by Clean My Space on YouTube.
#1: Use Door Mats
Make sure to place door mats outside of your door and one inside as well, then encourage your family members and guests who are coming over to rub their shoes on the mat before coming in, and then rub them on the mat once inside as well. It would also be best to keep a shoes-off policy on your house to prevent spreading dirt all around your floor.
#2: Close Your Windows
Having your windows open all the time can bring lots of dust and dirt into your home, so make sure to keep them closed, especially if it’s particularly windy. It is also advisable to open those in the upper floors and keep the ones in the lower floors closed, that way, some of the low-line dirt won’t be able to blow in.

#3: Clean Your Area Rugs, Cushion, Pillows
Rugs, cushions, pillows, etc. can accumulate dust and trap them, and no matter how much you wash and vacuum them, there will always be leftover dust and dirt. What you can do is take them outside, then beat or wack them with a broom or any tool you have, and let the dust and dirt fly away from the material. Do this for about 3 to 4 times a year and then wash them as usual.
#4: Replace Your Air Filters and Vents
Change your air filters a couple of times a year, ideally four times, one for every season. But, if you haven’t changed your filter in a while, then it’s time for you to get a new one and change it. Once the filter gets clogged with too much dirt and dust, it won’t be effective in giving you quality air anymore, and would instead put the accumulated dust back into your home which then you may breathe in.
#5: Replace Your Feather Dusters
Feather dusters aren’t effective in trapping dirt and would just relocate them elsewhere when you start swaying them back and forth. Instead, use microfiber cloth as they are better at accumulating dust and trapping it in the cloth so that it doesn’t come back on the surface you’re cleaning.
