If you’re beginning to smell something bad around your kitchen, then it’s probably coming from your sink, and it’s time to clean it up. Here are 3 different but super easy ways that you can clean as well as deodorize your kitchen sink to rid of all the buildup of bacteria without costing you a lot of money. Learn a trick or all three of them with this video tutorial by 1 Tom Plumber on YouTube.

Materials:

  • Ice cubes
  • Listerine or any mouthwash
  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Boiling water

Directions:

Ice cubes

Bad odor in your sink is usually caused by garbage disposal blades that got all gunky. To clean this easily, simply pour a small cup or about half a cup of ice cubes directly down the drain, then turn the garbage disposal on, and after a while, wash it out a little bit with water. The shards of broken ice will help remove the sticky stuff and bacteria around your drain which causes the bad smell.

Listerine or any mouthwash

This is another remedy or solution that you may already have in your house. Pour a few large capfuls of mouthwash down into the drain, then let it sit for about 15 minutes, and rinse it with clean water. Repeat this as needed.

Baking soda and vinegar

Prepare a pot full of boiling water, then pour about half of it down the drain, and after a little while pour about half a cup of baking soda down the drain followed by half a cup to 1 cup of vinegar. It will bubble up, and that’s when you’ll know if it’s working, then after a couple of minutes, pour the remaining half of the boiling water, and you’re done.
