Do you have a key safe, padlock, or suitcase that got locked, and you couldn’t remember the combination? It’s so frustrating when it happens, especially when you have important things inside, and you need them right away. But don’t worry, we got you! Here’s an easy trick by Ken KanFix that you can do using a piece of paper and pencil. This method should work for most locks.
Take a small piece of paper, insert it in the gap on the first number lock, and trace the end of the lock just like in the photo below. Hold it with your one hand.
Each dial looks like a half-circle underneath. The idea is to find where the flat part is. Using a pencil, turn the first number lock, one digit at a time with your other hand. Make sure you are gently pushing the paper down while you turn the number. Once you see that the line goes down a little bit, that’s the right digit. Repeat it with the other numbers. Some combination locks used to have a line that you can see through the gaps. If you can see the line, all you need to do is line up all of them, and you won’t need any paper or pencil.
The flat part of the barrel normally has to be on the opposite side. Once the flat part of the barrel is all lined up, all you have to do is move each digit to five positions. This will turn the flat part of the barrel to the opposite side. Now try to open it. If it doesn’t open, it means that the flat part is not in the right position.
