Your sink could get smelly over time because of the grease from your food, soap scum, and other buildups. This could also happen if you don’t clean your sink regularly. You can manually clean your drains by removing the lid and inserting a plastic clog remover, you can use either a vinegar and baking soda mixture or a store-bought chemical. If this still doesn’t work, you might want to check if you have some sewer vent issues. Read down below for more details on how to take care of your kitchen sink and eliminate any unwanted odor. Step 1: How to tackle a smelly sink
After washing the dishes and using your sponge, make sure to wash it well with soapy water, then wring it out until most of the moisture is drained from the sponge, and set it on top of the counter to dry. Don’t throw it back in the sink, this applies to other sponges, cloths, or dish rags that you used in the sink. You also need to make sure to empty the sink traps every day.

Step 2: How to clean your sink
Make sure to clean your sink regularly using either a dish brush or a sponge. Clean it using dish soap and a bit of baking soda, then give it a good scrub, and rinse well. After washing the sink, make sure to wipe it dry with a rag or cloth. You also have to check and clean your p-trap or j-trap regularly to avoid it from smelling. Simply pour about a cup of baking soda directly into the drain, then let it sit for about 30 minutes while you’re boiling some vinegar. Pour the boiled vinegar directly into the drain.
