Hot chocolate is one of my favorite holiday drinks to have while snuggling up in a blanket during the cold weather. This healthy make-ahead hot chocolate mix recipe by Mary’s Nest on YouTube is very detailed, and she gives a lot of tips too. Also, the shelf life of this hot chocolate mix is 2 years, but the shelf life will be decreased to six months to one year if using full-fat whole milk powder. I love hot chocolate so it’s convenient and better to make a homemade mix instead of buying it from the store. Plus, you’ll see all the ingredients you have in the mix, and it’s less expensive for the amount.
First, start off by making the mix in a large mixing bowl, add in the powdered milk. Then, using a fine-mesh strainer, add cocoa powder, salt, and arrowroot powder. Continue to watch Mary’s Nest tutorial on YouTube for full instructions and details.
Next, mix all of the ingredients together well and use a whisk until fully incorporated. Transfer the hot chocolate mix to a quart-sized jar to store, and if you want to make this as a gift, put it into a 4-ounce jar.
Overall, this is a cute holiday gift party favor to put in a stocking stuffer.
