Make your very own custard in the comforts of your home with this fantastic recipe from Downshiftology on YouTube! I love how it’s easy to make and only needs a few ingredients. I’m a big fan of creme brulee, so making a good custard base is important to me, and this particular recipe is what I’m just looking for.

To start, crack five large eggs and separate the yolks and whites into two bowls. Next, in a saucepan over medium heat, add 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 cup of whole milk. Whisk occasionally until the mixture starts to simmer, then remove it from the heat. Set it aside. To the egg yolk bowl, add 2 tbsp of honey, 2 tbsp cornstarch, and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Mix well, then slowly pour the hot milk mixture while stirring continuously.

Now, place the saucepan back on the stove over medium-low heat, and slowly pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan. Keep stirring for another one to three minutes or until slightly thickened.
You can serve the custard warm over some cake or fruit crisp. You can also chill it and serve it with some fruits and nuts or make a fruit salad custard.
