Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • canola or vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

Step 1:

Add two eggs in a large mixing bowl and whisk well. Pour in 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of water, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix until well combined.

Step 2:

Add 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the mixture and stir to combine. Next, add 3 cups of all-purpose flour and whisk until smooth. You should end up with a liquid consistency.

Step 3:

Fill a heavy skillet with about 1/2 to 1 inch of oil, then let it heat until the temperature reaches 375F.

Step 4:

Transfer the batter to a funnel or squeeze bottle. If you are going to use a funnel, plug the spout using your fingers and ladle the mixture about 1/2 cup at a time. Drizzle into the hot oil in a spiral motion. You can make them in any size that you want.

Step 5:

Fry for about 2 minutes or until golden brown. Gently flip it over and cook the other side for another 2 minutes. Using a slotted spatula, remove the funnel cake and place it on a plate lined with a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Step 6:

Transfer the drained funnel cake to your serving plate. You can top it with powdered sugar, cinnamon, pie filling, ice cream, strawberries whipped cream, and any syrup you like. Serve and enjoy!
