I made Whippoorwill’s version of summer salad that is a brilliant refrigerated canning idea that I keed on hand all year round, and everyone loves it. I knew this apple crisp idea was definitely going to be a part of the whippoorwill hall of fame as soon as I read the ingredients. You really would be hard-pressed to find a dessert that is quicker, easier, or more flavorful. The bottom line is, that this apple crisp recipe does not disappoint.

Ingredients For The Apple Crisp:

  • 2 pounds of thinly sliced apples
  • 1/2 cup of oats
  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teas[on of salt
  • 1/3 cup cold butter

Ingredients For Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
  • Bake at 375°F for 35 to 40 minutes
